This is an online, self-paced asynchronous course for MEMSEd, on the new "Naloxone Leave Behind" dispensation program for EMS Clinicians.
This is an online, self-paced, asynchronous course that satisfies the requirement for completion of a 2023 Maine EMS protocol update class for Maine EMS clinicians licensed at the EMR and EMT levels. Completion of this course DOES NOT satisfy (by itself) any requirement for completion of didactic or practical skills training which may be required to perform any Maine EMS scope of practice expansion skills that are component parts of the overall protocol updates. Additional training in the form of supplemental education modules, separate skills practical sessions and service-level credentialing will be required for that purpose.
This course is composed of multiple modules matching the protocol update sections and also contains student resources.
Any questions regarding this course should be directed to the EMS Education Coordinator, Maine EMS.

This course is designed as an effort to familiarize EMS clinicians and EMS services with emergency response and treatment protocols developed by the MDPB in March 2020, in response to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. The course is presented in modules corresponding to each phase of response in the protocol, as the phases are developed and approved by MDPB. All are reminded that this response protocol represents medical guidance, and guidance regarding response by EMS providers to the patients presented by the pandemic. It is up to each EMS service to develop its own response SOPs, and SOG's.
